Our Mission
Help buyers decide with confidence
To help furniture buyers make confident, well-informed decisions by providing independent research, rigorous evaluation, and clear guidance — with no advertising and no manufacturer relationships to protect.
Furniture is expensive, infrequent, and difficult to evaluate before purchase. The information available to most buyers is produced by the same people trying to sell them something. We exist to correct that imbalance.
Our Vision
Accountability follows an informed buyer
The furniture industry runs on information asymmetry. Retailers control the language — "top-grain," "solid wood," "high-resilience foam," "lifetime warranty" — and most buyers have no reliable way to evaluate what those terms actually mean, how they compare across brands, or whether they matter at all. The result is that marketing copy functions as product research, and buyers pay for it in the form of expensive mistakes.
We intend to change that dynamic. Not by pressuring retailers directly, but by making their customers better informed than they expect. When buyers arrive already knowing what questions to ask, what specifications to demand, and what claims to be skeptical of, the industry has to respond. Transparency follows accountability, and accountability follows an informed buyer.
That is the long game. In the short term, we publish rigorous, independent research that helps real people make better decisions about expensive, infrequent purchases. Over time, if we do that well enough at scale, we raise the floor on what the industry has to disclose to compete for an educated customer.
